Ouistreham
Ouistreham est une petite ville située à 14 km au nord de Caen, au bord de la Manche à l’embouchure de l’Orne. C’est le port de commerce de Caen. Des ferries assurent la liaison avec le port anglais de Portsmouth.
Lors du débarquement de 1944, Ouistreham faisait partie de la zone connue sous le nom de « Sword Beach ».
La Poste a émis un timbre représentant le phare de Ouistreham. C’est un phare de granit, cylindrique, de 38 m de haut et peint en rouge et blanc. Ce phare terrestre a été érigé en 1905 en remplacement de l'ancien phare carré de 13 mètres de haut. Le phare de Ouistreham est visible à 16 milles marins.

On landing in 1944, Ouistreham was part of the area known as "Sword Beach".
The Post issued a stamp depicting the lighthouse at Ouistreham. It is a granite lighthouse, cylindrical, 38 m high and painted red and white. The onshore lighthouse was built in 1905 to replace the old lighthouse of 13 m high. Ouistreham lighthouse is visible to 16 nautical miles.
Ouistreham is twinned with Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, twin illustrated by drawings of children.
